W.A.S.P.
Women's Awareness Self Protection. Practical defense taught without the drill-sergeant act and without pretending a weekend seminar makes anyone bulletproof.
Awareness first
The techniques matter, but most of what keeps people safe happens well before contact. The program starts with situational awareness and de-escalation, then moves to what to do when those fail.
Built on jiu-jitsu
Grappling is the right base for self-defense against a larger attacker, because it assumes you are underneath and need to get out. That is the position most assaults actually put a woman in.
Train with women who started where you are
Our coaching staff includes Sophia Nordenö, a black belt with more than a decade in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission wrestling.
W.A.S.P. sessions are scheduled by demand. Call (619) 381-7210 and we will get you into the next one.
Your first week is on us
One full week of classes. No card, no contract, no obligation. Come see whether the room is right for you before you spend a dollar.
What families say
Rated 5.0 on Google
Fourteen reviews, every one of them five stars. Most of them mention the same two things: the coaching and the atmosphere.
★★★★★Excellent for introducing kids to jiu-jitsu. The coaches are skilled, knowledgeable and patient. Easy to reach for East County families, and the owners offer a free week trial.
★★★★★My son started a little over a year ago and loves it. Lots of parking, and everyone there makes you feel like family. Recommended for kids and adults of all ages.
★★★★★Orlando is patient but firm enough to keep the kids focused. He teaches real life lessons about bullying and how to defend yourself.
